Shani or the planet Saturn is regarded as one of the most important and significant planet in Vedic Astrology. Mythologically, Shani is considered as the son of Surya (Sun god) and Chaaya (Goddess of Shadow) and due to this the Shani dev is sometimes referred to as ‘Chaaya putra’ or the 'Son of Chaaya'.

During this transit, Sade Sati is formed when Shani enters and travels through the twelfth house from position of Moon (First Phase of Sade Sati), followed by transit over Moon (Second Phase of Sade Sati) and lastly travels over first house from Moon (Third Phase of Sade Sati), each transit being of two and a half years, thus totalling we get Seven and a half years and hence called ‘Sadde Sati’. This cycle is repetitive and comes every 25 years in any one’s life.

The first phase of transit of Shani during Sade Sati is considered as a period when its impact gradually starts building. During the second phase, impact of Shani Sade Sati is at its peak and during the third phase the receding period sees reducing impact of Sade Sati.

Auspicious Effects of Sade Sati

Shani or the Saturn is considered strong in the houses 3, 6, 10 and 11 which are called the Upachaya houses, and may bless the native with some good results depending on favourable placements or aspect of other planets.
